Questions about the Greek philosopher Plato (428 or later – 348/347 BC) and his works. His works have come down to us in the form of dialogues (no original manuscripts have survived), often involving his teacher Socrates. His major works include 'Apology of Socrates', 'Phaedo', 'Symposium' and 'Republic'. From a literary perspective, 'Republic' is known, among other things, for its discussion of censorship on poetry.
