I need help finding a copy of a misplaced book. It was a literary compilation of verse, poems, speeches, plays, bible verses. It was very old, maybe written during a war. It had a thin leatherette cover with gold embossing, very thin paper. One of the verses was Man from Nantucket (not the profane version). Any ideas how to find?

Could you provide any more information about the book that would help identify it? How old is "very old"? Do you have more details about the contents? Any specifics will help with identifying it. – bobble Dec 18 '20 at 3:56
  • Unfortunately, he doesn't remember much. Bought it at an antique store in Red Wing, MN, about 20 years ago for $1. There were some Mark Twain excerpts and lots of other verses, excerpts, poems, etc. Thinking it might have been accidentally put in a give-away box (yikes, I am in trouble!). – Tamara Dec 18 '20 at 5:28
  • Please edit any and all extra details you have into the question. Your current description is pretty non-specific, though - I'm sure there are plenty of compilations around. – bobble Dec 18 '20 at 5:32
  • Based on your comment, I assume it was in English. Do you remember if it was a big book or not? Did it contain texts only from English-language authors or also translations? – Tsundoku Dec 18 '20 at 9:54
  • Yes, English. Not sure if the texts were only from English language authors and/or translations. It was 2-3 inches thick, 5 x 7 ish. – Tamara Dec 18 '20 at 10:43
