When I was in elementary school (from 2013-2018), I read a picture book I saw on the classroom shelves. It was a short picture book where a black cat would walk through an abandoned castle/manor of some sort. The only specific detail I remember was a children’s room with old toys in it. I specifically remember a jack-in-the-box and a small toy car, and there may have been some alphabet blocks as well.

What picture book is this?

  • Can you give any more details about the book? We don't know when you were in elementary school - could you give us a time period (even a decade?) Is your dream part of the book or not connected to it? Could you describe the children's room or the toys in it in any more detail? – bobble Nov 28 '20 at 4:45
  • Yeah sure, I was in elementary school from 2013-2018. I’ll be sure to add that to my post. – Blacky Doge Nov 28 '20 at 4:50
  • The dream is not connected to the book, although it was quite strange to find it so soon after the dream. The toys in the room were a jack in the box and a little toy car. – Blacky Doge Nov 28 '20 at 4:51
  • reminds me of this animation. youtube.com/watch?v=APSEYn7CqzQ It's a scene from the film Allegro Non Troppo en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegro_Non_Troppo No Jack-in-the-box or toy car, that I could see, but there is a shot of children playing. Maybe a book based on the film, or vice-versa. – Pete Nov 29 '20 at 1:37
  • Eerie; although I definitely remember a castle instead of a house. – Blacky Doge Nov 29 '20 at 2:47
