I'm remembering a statement or quote I once read which I think was about society and its development. I don't remember it exactly though and would also like to know its origin. It went something like:

Just because we decided not to drag you out of your office and kill you in the street, it doesn't mean we can't anymore.

If I remember correctly this was addressed at some kind of manager coming from workers or similar.
